OK, so I finally converted to a PC after owning Macs for 20 years- for goodness sake, Apple, lower your prices! I could afford another Mac, but they've lost my business because their prices are so inflated. I've got to admit that the transition was painless and the set up was incredibly easy, even for a person such as myself who just learned to text 6 months ago. This laptop is just the perfect size for sitting on the dining room table, on my lap, or throwing into the car. It starts up quickly so I don't have time to walk away while it gets it's act together. The battery life has been enough for me so far to take in my truck for the day, the keyboard is well designed with a full, separate section for the nubmers, and the touchpad (which I hate using) isn't too sensitive- I've used other laptops where I had to tape a piece of cardboard over the touch pad because it was so sensitive! The screen is just big enough to allow a couple of windows to be open without me needing to find my reading glasses, and it looks as if there are lots of slots in the sides to plug things in if I ever find things I'd like to plug in :)

I bought this laptop last year from [...] for college. It was a great buy because of the price. I've owned many HP computers and they usually end up being problematic; however, there is an invisible force of attraction between me and HP that keeps me buying their product for some reason time after time!
For the first few months, it was swell. But after about 4 months, my battery couldn't charge anymore. I ran a battery health check and it told me to replace my battery. Luckily, my warranty had not ran out so I called them up. The operator was very busy and she hastily asked me for my name and address so she can send me a new one "ASAP". One week passed and still no battery. I am a college student and I use my laptop to take notes in class. I had to bare a whole week of going to class early so I can hog the seat next to the electrical outlet so I can plug my laptop in. Later that week my mom told me there was a strange package for a "Sheila McDonald" (or something of that sort) from HP. THAT WAS MY BATTERY! For some reason the operator had input the wrong name. I called them, angrily, and this new operator laughed at the mistake and promised to get it right. After 2 days, I received my new battery.
Problem #2. After exactly one year, after my warranty expired, after what I consider moderate use, the left-click touchpad physical button gave. The springs that is supposed to hold it up after every click collapsed. Now, I rarely even used this button because obviously the touch pad is touch-sensitive, whenever I need to left-click, I simply used the touch, not the physical key. But nevertheless it broke, and the warranty is expired so I can't get it fixed.
Problem #3. After the problem with the touch pad, I noticed that the charging notification light fails to illuminate whenever I plug my laptop in for a charge. Some days, good days, the light would have a generous heart and light up for me-- for a brief period before it extinguishes.
Problem #4. After a year, my hard drive begins to crash regularly. I've done numerous hard-disk tests and not one passes. At times, the test will fail to start and freeze for days until I decide to cut it's power source. The only way out of it is to avoid the disk test all together and use it knowing it has a fatal problem that can possibly shut down my work unannounced.
I promised myself never to buy another HP again! It's your choice. My laptop still functions fine. But you have to succumb to the laptop's needs. You can't use it they way you'd like; you use it the way it likes.

My desktop was over 10 years old it was time for a change. I am a value buyer and this was a very good deal - good performance for the price. I plugged my wireless mouse and went to work. I am old school so I do not like hunting for the location of things in Windows 7. But that too will pass. I have not hooked up a TV receiver yet. Yes I am going to plug in an over-the-air HD tuner to my wireless network.

Laptop is fine... but the Webcam clarity is horrible.
Webcam is worst I have seen in HP Laptops so far.
